Harold William "Bill" Winslow, 83, of Troy, Montana, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, in Libby.

Bill was born on Aug. 17, 1942, in Libby, Montana, to Ervin and Elizabeth Winslow. He was the youngest of eight children and spent his childhood on the Winslow Ranch south of Troy and along the shores of Savage Lake.

Those years of putting up hay in the summer, cutting ice blocks in the winter, milking cows and cleaning the chicken coop instilled a work ethic in Bill that he maintained throughout his life.

Bill attended Troy Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1960. During his school years, he participated in football and basketball, but some of his fondest memories were made as the catcher for the American Legion baseball team. He especially cherished catching for his favorite pitcher—his brother, Erv.

On Nov. 10, 1962, Bill married the love of his life, Mary Bradshaw, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and dedication, sharing over 50 wonderful years of marriage until Mary's passing in January of 2013. Bill was very fond of the Bradshaw family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Bill was proud to be a logger. He spent 47 years working in the timber industry before retiring in 2008. Whether he was falling timber, running dozers and skidders, or loading and hauling logs, he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability and the pride he took in providing for his family.

In retirement, Bill enjoyed the hobbies that brought him happiness throughout his life. Whether bowling, playing billiards, or spending countless hours working on projects in "the shop," he was happiest when he was keeping busy with his hands or enjoying time with friends and family.

Bill loved his family. His wife Mary and children Jessie and Wally as well as their families were very important to him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. We will all miss him very much. He also treasured his relationships with his siblings and shared especially close bonds with his sister, Jane, and his brother, Erv.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Jessie Lindsey and her husband, Jim, of Winnemucca, Nevada; his son, Wally Winslow and his wife, Cami, of Libby, Montana; his sister, Jane Weber and her husband, Martin, of Spokane, Washington; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents, Ervin and Elizabeth Winslow; and his brothers Bert, Jim, Ray and Erv, and his sisters Mary and Jeanne.

Bill will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his decades of hard work, his hearty laugh and friendly demeanor, and the many hours spent in "the shop," where there always seemed to be another project waiting.

His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched throughout his 83 years.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Silver Spur in Troy from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
