Lake City Playhouse brings 'Mean Girls' to the Inland Northwest

Lake City Playhouse is excited to present "Mean Girls," opening July 24 and running through Aug 2. The production marks an exciting milestone as Lake City Playhouse becomes the first theatre in the Inland Northwest to produce the Broadway musical hit. 

The production has brought together an incredible cast from both Coeur d'Alene and Spokane, making it a true regional collaboration.  

Lake City Playhouse has also been thrilled to welcome Karlin Kahler for her directorial debut at the Playhouse. Kahler has embraced the nostalgia audiences' love while giving the production a fresh, modern perspective. 

Choreographer Delaney Kahler, whose previous work on Lake City Playhouse's award-winning "Rent" earned rave reviews and has filled the show with energetic choreography inspired by the dance trends many remember from their own high school days. 

"Choreographing "Mean Girls" has been a fun dive into nostalgia. Growing up with this movie, I knew where I needed to pull inspiration from — my childhood,” Delaney Kahler said. “It's been a blast creating dances inspired by the moves we used to bust out at school formals." 

Musical Director Jolena Long has led the music while also contributing to the theatre's newest mural, continuing her longstanding dedication to Lake City Playhouse. 

Leading the cast are Cate Jenek as Cady Heron, Ijah Moore as Regina George, with Stevie Astudillo as Gretchen Wieners and Kalli DeLeonard as Karen Smith. 

Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
