Lois L. Kern, Longtime resident of Coeur d'Alene, died June 11, 2026, at home.

Lois was born in Briggsdale, Colo., to Jim and Leathel Prout. She was the third of four daughters. She came to Idaho when she was five years old. She grew up at Rockford Bay, Idaho. Lois was in the 1955 graduating class of Coeur d'Alene High School.

She married the love of her life, Donald W. Kern. They celebrated 70 years together. They owned and operated Don's Custom Woodworking in Potlatch, Idaho, for 55-plus years before moving to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Lois had a passion for books. She loved to read, knit, crochet and any craft that came along. She also loved to walk and was often seen walking her dogs in their neighborhood.
