Sharon Jones, 82

Sharon Jones fell asleep in death on the morning of July 3, 2026, with her devoted husband of 59 years, Neal, by her side. She passed away from heart failure due to severe coronary artery disease. A long-time member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she was baptized July 30, 1960, and faced death with unwavering trust in Jehovah’s God’s promise of a resurrection to life on a paradise Earth, as assured at Luke 23:43.

Born on June 21, 1944, to Carl and Thelma Weyen, Sharon spent her childhood on the family farm in Reardan, Wash., together with her younger sister, Linda. On Dec. 3, 1966, she married her childhood friend-turned-sweetheart, Neal Jones. Though told she would never have children, Sharon and Neal joyfully welcomed two children: Elliot in 1979 and Julie in 1981. Her children grew up hearing vivid stories of farm life — from a rabid coyote climbing onto their grandfather’s tractor to towering snowdrifts that swallowed the family car as it pushed through like a locomotive.

Sharon loved to travel, especially to national parks. She explored Hawaii, Alaska, the Inland Northwest and the Southwest, but Yellowstone remained one of her favorites, a place she returned to often over the years. She was also an accomplished seamstress who lovingly sewed clothing for her family, and in later years she found joy in quilting. Sharon was always open to learning something new and engaged in life despite lifelong health complications.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Neal; children Elliot and Julie; sister Linda; nephews Ryan and Shane; and her mother, Thelma. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8500 N. Ramsey Rd, Hayden, Idaho, on July 25 at 4 p.m.
