Mariners sweep Twins in doubleheader

POLSON — Noah Agliano drove in three runs as the Mission Valley Mariners swept a Legion baseball doubleheader from the Glacier Twins on Friday evening. 


Mission Valley (20-13) opened the twin bill with a 10-0 victory before rolling to a 17-4 win in the nightcap. 


In the opener, Cole Wadsworth tossed five scoreless innings while striking out seven. The Mariners broke through with three runs in the second inning as Agliano delivered a two-run double before Liam Jackson added a sacrifice fly. 


The Mariners plated three more in the third inning with RBI singles from Paxson DuMont, Hunter Luedtke and Agliano. Wadsworth connected on a solo homer in the fourth to push the lead to 7-0. 


Glacier (8-25) was held to two hits, both coming from Mason Muller. 


In the second game, Mission Valley scored two early runs in the first then erupted for 14 runs in the second to pull away. Cody Haggard highlighted the inning with a three-run homer and finished 3-3 for five RBIs, while Wadsworth, DuMont, and Holden Emerson added multiple hits. 


Jake Hesler earned the win, allowing two hits over four scoreless innings with four strikeouts. 


Jacob Recer, Derek Juntunen, Tristan Libby and Tayvion Robinson each recorded a hit the second game.
