Randall O. Knight, 79
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 5 days, 19 hours AGO
Randy Knight passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer June 18, 2026, in Bellingham, Wash.
Randy grew up in a military family, and his fondest memories were when they were stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. He graduated from Great Falls High School and attended the University of Montana, where he met his future wife, Mary Lynn Prentice. They were married June 14, 1969, and spent 53 of their 57 years building a life together in Kootenai County.
Randy's career centered around the insurance and restaurant industries. He enjoyed the challenge of building businesses and was always researching the latest building techniques. He was endlessly curious, loved solving problems, and rarely met a project he wasn't willing to tackle.
When the snow started to fly, Randy could usually be found getting the snowmobiles ready and heading to Fernan to enjoy the fresh powder.
Randy loved to help others. He spent nearly ten years driving a DAV van transporting Veterans to their medical appointments. It was something he genuinely looked forward to each week and reflected his quiet desire to serve and advocate for others.
His greatest passion was his family. Many weekends were spent at sporting events, concerts and running the family Turkey Trot, or simply listening as someone shared a story. He took great pride in encouraging those around him, generously sharing his knowledge, and always being willing to lend a helping hand. His wisdom and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Randy is survived by his wife, Mary; his children: Kevin (Nadia), Sara (Rob) and Brian (Jessica); his grandchildren: Jackson, Evan, Andrew, Kyla, Taylor, Kellen and Sasha; his step-granddaughters: Madeline and Lydia; and his siblings: Pamela, Monica, Brandon and Mike.
A Celebration of Randy's Life will be held July 25, 2026, at 3 p.m. at the family property.
English Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
