Senators sweep twin bill with AA Lakers

HELENA — Grant Bahnmiller drove in three runs on two hits as the Helena Senators took game one of a doubleheader over the AA Lakers 10-4 Saturday in Montana/Alberta Legion baseball.


The Senators completed the sweep later in the evening with a 5-2 win. 


In game one, Bahnmiller followed up a Tanner Steen two-run single in the bottom of the first to help Helena (43-16 overall, 12-9 in AA conference games) to a 3-0 advantage. 


Keaton Troyer doubled in the second to being in another run as the Senators extended their lead to 6-0. 


Bahnmiller drove in two more with a double in the fourth inning and Helena was up 9-0 before Kalispell found any offense. 


In the fifth, the Lakers (13-15, 6-14) got on the board. First, Lincoln Fisher singled to right field to bring in Wyatt Asher. Tait Orme then brought in Micah Engle with an RBI groundout to make it 9-2. 


In the seventh Orme drove in another run to help Kalispell cut the deficit to 10-4. Kalispell loaded the bases in the frame, but could get no closer. 


James DeMers went six innings for Helena, allowing two runs on two hits. He sat down nine Lakers. 


Max Schara tossed 5 2-3 innings for Kalispell, fanning two. 


Bahnmiller showed out again in game two with a two-run single in the second to help Helena out to a 4-0 lead. 


Kalispell found its runs in the sixth as Miles Arrowsmith and Brady Buckmaster hit back-to-back RBI singles to make it 4-2. Kalispell wouldn't get any closer. 


Matt Feller went 6 2-3 innings for Helena, Striking out nine. 


Lincoln Fisher tossed five games in relief for Kalispell, allowing one run on four hits. 


Kalispell and Helena finish the three-game series Sunday at noon.
