A Coeur d’Alene man is being held on $1 million bail for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material. 

Christopher G. Conolley, 61, is charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a child, all felonies. Each offense is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. 

First District Judge Mayli Walsh ordered on Wednesday that Conolley be held on $1 million bail. 

The investigation began in March, after police received a CyberTip through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding apparent child sexual abuse material originating from a Google account associated with Conolley and an IP address connected to his residence. 

Investigators reviewed the files flagged in the CyberTip, which included images of nude children, according to court records. 

Police obtained a search warrant for records associated with the Google account. The search yielded evidence that the account belonged to Conolley, according to court records. 

On Tuesday, police executed a search warrant for Conolley’s residence in Coeur d’Alene. In Conolley’s bedroom, investigators found an SD card and a tablet that allegedly contained child sexual abuse material, according to court records. 

Police contacted Conolley the same day through a traffic stop. When interviewed by police, Conolley allegedly denied possessing or seeking out child sexual abuse material. 

Later, he allegedly admitted to saving copies of child sexual abuse material he came across while browsing adult websites, according to court records. 

Police subsequently arrested Conolley and booked him into jail.
