WALLACE — Downtown Wallace will soon have a new midweek gathering place as the Wallace Street Market prepares to launch a six-week run to connect shoppers with local growers, artists, crafters and small businesses. 

The new outdoor market begins next Wednesday and will transform a section of the historic mining community into a weekly destination for vendors, food, live music and community interaction. 

Leading the effort is market coordinator JoHannah Branstetter, who has spent recent months recruiting vendors and seeking sponsors to help get the event off the ground. While she hopes to see strong participation from Silver Valley businesses, the market is open to vendors from across the region. 

"We are accepting up to 50 vendors, including local growers and homesteaders, artists and crafters, and food vendors," Branstetter said. 

The market is intended to provide a welcoming space for entrepreneurs and small businesses to showcase their products while giving residents and visitors another opportunity to spend time in downtown Wallace. 

Branstetter said organizers want the event to be as inclusive as possible and encourage businesses of all types to participate. 

"Any and all small businesses are encouraged to apply," she said. "We are currently looking for event sponsors, so any businesses who would like to support the market in that way are invited to reach out and receive extra advertising on our socials and at the event." 

Beyond shopping opportunities, each market will feature live music, giving attendees a chance to linger, visit with friends and enjoy an evening in the community's historic downtown district. 

According to Branstetter, the market was created to help smaller businesses and entrepreneurs gain additional exposure for their products while also supporting the broader community. Organizers hope the combination of local vendors, entertainment and a central location will create a vibrant atmosphere throughout the six-week series. 

Vendors interested in participating must register through the Wallace Chamber of Commerce. Businesses may register for individual market dates or the entire six-week series, although priority registration will be given to vendors who commit to all six weeks. Registration forms are available through the Wallace Chamber website. 

The Wallace Street Market will be held every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. beginning July 22 and continuing through Aug. 26. Vendor setup begins at 2:30 p.m. The market will be located on Sixth Street between Pine and Cedar streets and around the Northern Pacific Depot Museum.
