Bucks sweep Lakers behind fast starts in Bozeman

BOZEMAN — The Bozeman Bucks grabbed early leads in both games and swept the Kalispell Lakers in an AA Legion doubleheader Monday.
Bozeman won the opener 5-2 before completing the sweep with a 6-4 victory in the nightcap.
The losses dropped Kalispell to 14-17 overall, while Bozeman improved to 19-19.

Bozeman scored the game's first five runs and never looked back. Cody Smith's RBI double broke a scoreless tie in the second before Wyatt Ford and Harvey Kimmel each drove in runs during a two-run third. The Bucks added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth.
The Lakers got on the board in the fourth when Hunter Fann tripled and scored on a wild pitch. Fann added an RBI double in the fifth to score Miles Arrowsmith and cut the deficit to 4-2, but Kalispell couldn't get any closer.
Kimmel finished 3 for 3 with two RBIs, while Ford and Rolen Quezada each had two hits. Fann had two hits for the Lakers, and Arrowsmith tripled and scored. Tait Orme pitched a complete game, allowing five runs, four earned, while striking out five without a walk.

Kalispell erased an early deficit to tie the game in the third, but Bozeman answered with two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to regain control.
The Lakers chipped away with a run in the fifth and mounted one last rally in the seventh. Liam Rech drove in a run before Arrowsmith followed with a two-run single, but Bozeman held on to finish the sweep.
Arrowsmith went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Tait Orme added two hits and an RBI. Hunter Fann reached base three times, and George Schwan worked six innings on the mound for
Kalispell. Miles Sgamma drove in two runs for the Bucks, while Wyatt Ford, Quade Schnabel and Grayson Herz each finished with two hits.
