NAMPA — The Sandpoint Sasquatch 17U finally found its offensive footing in the final game of the Northwest Nazarene University 18U Classic to end its season the right way after a troubled stretch. 

IPB Spuds 16, Sasquatch 4 (5) 

NAMPA — A double from Chase Miller and two shutdown innings from Austyn Young weren't enough to lift Sandpoint past a 13-run second inning by the IPB Spuds on Friday evening. 

While the Spuds jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, 3-0, behind two singles and walks, it looked like the Sasquatch were going to hang with them. In the top of the second, a Broden Collins single got a two-out rally started that was capped off with a single from Middleton High's Carter Rounds to make the game 3-2. 

Sandpoint started Bishop Kelly High's Quin Mihin on the mound, and his struggles were apparent from the jump in the bottom of the second. Mihin opened the inning by hitting Eli Daniel and then walking Jesse Krahn to set up a 13-run rally from the Spuds. 

Mihin was pulled for Erik Hansen, who worked the first out of the inning when the game was 9-2; however, his time on the bump was short-lived as he was relieved after five batters. Sandpoint High's Chase Miller closed out the inning, inducing two fly outs, but by the time the dust settled, the Sasquatch trailed 16-2. 

Miller's double opened Sandpoint's third inning, where the Sasquatch notched two runs off an error and a wild pitch. Even while the Sasquatch were scoring, baserunners were at a premium. Sandpoint only totaled two more baserunners in the entire game before it was called after the fifth inning. 

Young touched the mound to open the third and delivered exactly what the Sasquatch needed. The Sandpoint High rising senior struck out four of the nine batters he faced, not allowing a single hit in his two-inning performance.

Sandpoint 7, Idaho Show 6 (6) 

NAMPA — In the final game of the season, the Sandpoint Sasquatch had exactly who they wanted at the plate to break a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the sixth against the Idaho Show. 

Sandpoint High rising junior Daniel Holman had been red hot at the plate, scorching multiple home runs a week ago and skying a triple in this game. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Holman took the first pitch. On the next pitch, Holman could end it with one swing, and as the ball drew closer, it made contact with Holman himself. 

As Holman jogged to first base, the winning run crossed the plate to give Sandpoint their first win since July 6. Instead of another massive hit for Sandpoint, all Holman needed to do was stand in the box. Sometimes the game of baseball has a sick sense of humor. 

The runner scored was Holman's fourth RBI of the day, completing a 3-3 day and sending him off on an incredibly high note to end the season. Holman also threw one and two-thirds shutdown innings to close out the win, striking out four of the nine batters he faced. 

Timely hitting from Austyn Young and CJ Stoker drove in crucial runs for Sandpoint in the fifth inning, allowing them to battle back after the Idaho Show snagged the lead earlier in the fourth. Mason Roberts and Stoker both collected multi-hit days against the Idaho Show. 

Sandpoint High's Chase Miller, slotted second in the order, also provided a quiet but key day. Miller worked three walks against the Idaho Show, with two resulting in runs. The most consequential of Miller's walks came in the sixth, which loaded the bases, allowing the walk-off. 

Priest River High's Broden Collins got the start for the Sasquatch, battling through four and one-third innings. Collins struck out six batters and gave up only three hits but walked eight and gave up three earned runs.  

The win completed the Sasquatch's season, lifting them to a 10-22-1 record across the 2026 campaign.
