Columbia Falls Rebels take 2nd at Jr. Olympics

The Columbia Falls Rebels softball team took second at the USA Softball Junior Olympic tournament in Great Falls July 11-12.
The Rebels went undefeated in four straight games in the tourney, defeating two Great Falls teams, a Billings team, and a Missoula team. The Missoula team eventually cam back through the bracket and beat the Rebels in two double elimination games, 4-2 and 10-9. The 10-9 game was a nailbiter that came down to the final batter.
The Rebels, coached by Monte Moultray and his daughter, Madison, ended up second. Maddy was a standout softball player in high school and led the Wildcats to two state A championships as a starting pitcher and excellent hitter. Monte Moultray has coached girls softball for years. This is his first year coaching 18U, he said. The girls team went 18-5 over the course of the summer.
