David Linn Ebberson

David Linn Ebberson, 71, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Hospice House of Spokane due to complications from ongoing health issues. He was born on Jan. 31, 1955, to Cliff and ReVera Ebberson in Wenatchee, Washington. 

As a young boy, Dave moved with his family from Wenatchee, Washington to Soap Lake and then later Ephrata, where he attended Columbia Ridge Elementary, Ephrata Junior High and Ephrata High School. He graduated in 1973 and then attended Wenatchee Valley College, where he received his AA degree in Criminal Justice. He grew up with his lifelong friend Mike Boland and many other kids in his neighborhood – riding bikes, fishing with family and, as he got older, hunting ducks, pheasants and doves. His first job was working at Harold's Thrift Store as a box boy. Later, he drove wheat trucks for the Barbres. After college, he attended the Washington State Patrol Academy in Shelton, Washington. After passing the required tests, the captain asked him, during an interview, “How old are you?” David told him he was 20. At that time a candidate had to be 21 in order to qualify. The captain told him they would love to have him come back in a year. Because he needed a job, he then applied for and went to work for the Grant County PUD as a Maintenance Worker. He worked through their apprenticeship program and became a Hydro Electrician. He worked at Wanapum Dam and Priest Rapids Dam from 1975 to 1985. He then transferred to Ephrata to work in the Transformer Shop and the Meter Relay Shop. Dave retired from the PUD in 2012, after working there for 37 years. 

In 1976 Dave married Linda Wanke, and this past May they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Together, they raised three sons. Their lives were full with many adventures: camping, fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles. Dave was always involved with their sons’ activities, and traveling with them for their different sports games. 

On Dave's 21st birthday, he was diagnosed with diabetes. The illness caused numerous health problems throughout his life. In 1997 Dave received a kidney transplant, donated by his oldest son, Jason. In 2000 Dave then received a pancreas transplant. This pancreas was the first standalone transplant at the Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, Washington. 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents Cliff and ReVera and his brother John. He is survived by his wife Linda and sons Jason (Angela), Cody (Jamie), and Brad. He is also survived by grandchildren Mycah and Karlye, as well as step-grandchildren Alisha, Melissa, Katelyn, Emily, Sierra, Alexis and Shayne; his Uncle John and Aunt Sylvia, and Aunt Sharon and Uncle Harold; special cousins and several nieces and nephews and friends. Dave was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, IBEW No. 77 and the Ephrata Lions Club. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 1, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 471 Nat Washington Way, Ephrata, Washington.
