Neighbors become teammates, friendly rivalries spark laughter, children discover new adventures around every corner, and generations gather to celebrate everything that makes this community special.

That weekend is almost here, the Mineral County Fair, July 30-Aug. 1, celebrating 80 years of fair traditions alongside America's 250th birthday.

The celebration actually begins before the midway opens. Open class exhibitors are invited to showcase their talents by bringing entries Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Whether it's a prize-winning garden vegetable, homemade pie, beautiful quilt, artwork, photography, woodworking project, or handcrafted creation, the Open Class exhibits highlight the incredible talents found throughout Mineral County.

A fair ritual begins on Thursday morning with one of the county's favorite traditions, the Methodist Men's Pancake Breakfast, served from 7 to 11 a.m. Fuel up before a full day of exploring the fairgrounds. This is the first of 3-days of pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs and coffee under the tent at the Main Entrance. Families can spend the afternoon enjoying the Kid Zone, presented by Glo-Rious, where children will find games, activities, and plenty of opportunities to burn off energy while making new friends.

Thursday is also a special time for reconnecting, as Mineral County Alumni Night welcomes returning graduates from 4 to 8 p.m., giving classmates and old friends a chance to catch up while enjoying the fair together. As evening arrives, excitement shifts to the arena for Family Night Jackpot Barrel Racing from 7 to 9 p.m., where talented riders and speedy horses provide fast-paced entertainment for spectators of all ages. When the arena lights dim, the music turns up. Tamarack Ridge Band kicks off the weekend's live entertainment from 9 p.m. to midnight, inviting everyone onto the dance floor to celebrate the opening night of the fair

Friday begins once again with pancakes before another full day of activities. Quilters from across the region will display their incredible craftsmanship during the 25th Annual Cabin Fever Quilters Quilt Show, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Superior High School Multipurpose Room and hallways. The colorful displays offer inspiration for seasoned quilters and first-time visitors alike. Beginning at noon, one of this year's newest attractions opens its doors. UmSpectum's Science Discovery Zone transforms learning into hands-on adventure with interactive exhibits designed to spark curiosity in children—and adults.

Throughout the afternoon, families can head to the Kid Zone or cool off on the school lawn where Montana Action Paintball and Airsoft hosts exciting Foam Parties and Orbeez Shooters, creating laughter, friendly battles, and unforgettable summer memories. Don't miss one of the sweetest competitions of the weekend when youngsters square off during the Kids’ Watermelon Eating Contest at 3 p.m. Expect sticky smiles, cheering crowds, and plenty of photo-worthy moments. 

Ready to learn something new? At 5:30 p.m., Traci leads the fair's first-ever line dancing lessons, welcoming everyone — from experienced dancers to complete beginners — to join the fun. She’s back on Saturday for Round II. As the sun sets, it's time for another Mineral County favorite, the Superior LIONS Club "Go for the Gold" Rodeo, bringing thrilling rides, skilled competitors, and classic rodeo excitement to the arena Friday evening. 

When the last critter leaves the arena, the celebration continues with the Tanner Laws Band, performing from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m., keeping the dance floor packed well into the night.

Saturday is the biggest day of the fair and your last opportunity to let the Methodist Men cook breakfast for you. You’ll be stuffed to the gills before the community gathers downtown for one of the year's most anticipated traditions, the Mineral County Fair Parade at 11 a.m. 

After the parade, everyone is invited back to the fairgrounds for a community birthday celebration honoring 250 years of America and 80 years of the Mineral County Fair. Enjoy birthday cake, live music from the Dixie Land Band, and a celebration recognizing the people and traditions that have made the fair a cornerstone of Mineral County for generations. 

The afternoon offers something for everyone. At 1 p.m., local youth take center stage during the 4-H Livestock Auction, showcasing months of hard work while supporting the next generation of agriculture.

Also beginning at 1 p.m., Bingo returns with chances to win prizes, followed by Kids Bingo at 2:30 p.m., with the always-popular Dog Show tucked in between the two events. Animal lovers won't want to miss Animal Wonders from 2 to 4 p.m., another exciting new attraction featuring live exotic animals and fascinating educational presentations that bring wildlife up close in a safe and memorable way. And then your last chance to polish your dance moves as Traci returns for a second session of line dancing instruction from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. 

Families can once again enjoy the Kid Zone, Foam Parties, Orbeez Shooters, the Quilt Show, and live music throughout the grounds featuring Sam and the Band, Ron Anderson, Eagle Nest Band, PJ Destiny, and more. Saturday evening wraps up with another action-packed performance of the Superior LIONS Club "Go for the Gold" Rodeo, followed by the fair's grand finale as The Hankers take the stage from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., sending everyone home dancing.

Throughout the weekend, you'll find delicious fair food, live entertainment around every corner, exhibits celebrating local talent, children's activities, long-time traditions, and exciting new attractions that promise to become favorites for years to come. Whether you're cheering on a rodeo rider, entering your famous pie, admiring award-winning quilts, meeting exotic animals, dancing with friends, watching the parade, supporting local 4-H members, or simply sharing a corn dog and lemonade with family, the Mineral County Fair remains the biggest family celebration of the year. It's where old friends reconnect, new traditions begin, and memories are made that last long after the last song ends.
