Stephen 'Steve' Lee Anderson, 84

Stephen Lee Anderson, 84, passed away peacefully July 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, hard work and devotion to family. Steve was born July 28, 1941, in Great Falls, Mont., to Oscar and Naomi Anderson. He was raised alongside his older brother, Mike Anderson, and his older sister, Donna Anderson, both of whom survive him. 

At just 18 years old, Steve married his high school sweetheart and classmate, Mary Dailey. Their marriage spanned an extraordinary 65 years. Together, they raised five children: Jodi (Robert Kuikhoven), Jill (Ed) Knapp, Marcus (Becca), Angie (Ryan) Retz, and Paul (Debbie) Doyle. He was thrilled by their 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A gifted athlete, Steve graduated from Great Falls High School, where he excelled in football and track. He continued his athletic career at the University of Montana, earning track honors while developing the determination and discipline that would guide him throughout his life. After college, he earned his Certified Public Accountant designation.

In 1965, Steve and Mary moved their young family to Wallace, Idaho, where he began his accounting career. In 1972, they made Coeur d’Alene their home, where Steve co-founded a CPA partnership. In 1981, he embarked on a new chapter by purchasing F & H Mine Supply, a business he proudly owned and operated until his retirement in 2020. 

Steve embraced life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure. He loved the outdoors, especially whitewater rafting, and was fortunate to experience two memorable trips through the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River. He also found great joy on the golf course, where countless rounds with friends and his beloved wife, Mary, created treasured memories. Since 2004, Steve and Mary enjoyed life as snowbirds, spending summers in beautiful Coeur d’Alene and winters under the Arizona sun. 

Steve is survived by his wife, siblings, children and many extended family members and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Jennifer. 

Steve’s life was a testament to perseverance, humility, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever present in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Avondale Golf Club, 10745 N. Avondale Loop, Hayden, ID 83835.
