Photo by JIM THRALL Austin Schield of Hayden, wrestling for Team Washington, won a national championship in Greco-Roman in the 16U boys 138-pound division, and was a finalist in freestyle at the 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals last week in Fargo, N.D. In Greco, Schield won all five matches by technical fall to reach the finals, where he defeated Aspen Tritz of Wisconsin 8-3. Schield, a rising sophomore at Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, won a Washington state 4A championship last year.
