Getting an older adult to eat more fruits and vegetables can be challenging. Add fresh fruit, such as strawberries, blueberries or a banana to their morning cereal. Load up a pizza with peppers, onions and tomatoes.

Have a bowl of washed fruit in a bowl that is easy to grab and eat when they are craving something sweet.

Blend, puree or mash fruit or vegetables into foods they already enjoy. Sneak spinach into smoothies, grated carrots into meatloaf or chili, grated zucchini into baked goods, or pureed cauliflower into mashed potatoes.

Healthy dips such as Greek yogurt or hummus can make vegetables more appealing (from National Council on Aging and National Institute on Aging websites).
