Trumbull Creek fire contained Tuesday

Crews from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Columbia Falls Fire Department contained a fire under one acre in size near Trumbull Creek on Tuesday, July 21.  

According to a Columbia Falls Fire Department social media post, crews responded at approximately 7:10 p.m. to a report of smoke near Halfmoon Road and East Edgewood Drive. Crews located the fire between Trumbull Creek and Haskill Basin Road.  

Firefighters were able to establish containment lines around the fire by approximately 11:30 p.m. DNRC crews remained on scene on Wednesday to secure the perimeter.  

As of Thursday, the Advent fire located about 15 miles west of Olney on both Kootenai and Flathead National Forest land was holding at 33 acres and 40% contained.  

Air quality in Whitefish was unhealthy Thursday due to smoke from fires in Washington, Idaho and Canada. Check https://fire.airnow.gov/ for air quality status.
