George Hamilton, 87

George David Hamilton was born May 12, 1939, in New York, N.Y., to Dwight and Helen (Scott) Hamilton. He passed away at his home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on June 20, 2026, surrounded by his family.
George spent his early childhood in Monroe, N.Y. When he was in middle school, his family moved to Mullan, Idaho. The family later moved again, and George attended high school in Coeur d'Alene, where he met his future wife, Rita Holecek.
After graduating, George returned to New York to work in the family construction business. During this time, he also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1969, George and Rita returned to Coeur d'Alene to raise their family. George worked a variety of jobs but spent most of his career working with his father and brother-in-law in their business, Holecek Appliance Service.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Rita, and his brother, Dwight Hamilton. He is survived by his sister, Carol Namchuk; his brother, Bob Hamilton; his daughters, Sarah Robinson and Deborah Hamilton; his granddaughters, Jane and Alyssa Robinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
George's life was defined by his love of family, his strong work ethic and his service to others.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St. in Coeur d'Alene on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul of North Idaho or Companions Animal Center.
