Gas prices continue to rise

Idahoans are paying 17 cents more for a gallon of gas than they did last week, according to AAA Fuel Prices.
The current average across the state for a gallon of regular is $4.22. That's a penny more than a month ago, but 73 cents more than a year ago.
The national average is $4.09 per gallon. Idaho currently ranks 12th in the country for the most expensive fuel.
The increase in petrol prices is attributed to instability in the Middle East.
“Crude oil prices are getting rough again. As conditions deteriorate in the Strait of Hormuz and as military action resumes, the market grows more skeptical about the fate of future crude supplies,” said AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “As crude goes, so goes gasoline.”
The West Texas Intermediate benchmark for crude is currently trading around $82 per barrel, up $12 from the beginning of the month and $16 more than a year ago.
“Keep bundling your trips and looking for ways to avoid peak traffic congestion,” Conde said. We’re heading for choppy waters until we see a lasting resolution in the Middle East.”
