Lincoln County Community Foundation supports area non-profits

The Lincoln County Community Foundation recently got a big boost in its efforts to invest in local non-profit organizations.

According to a news release from the foundation, generous donations from those impacted by Libby asbestos have resulted in a $34,000 annual increase.

The foundation thanked Kalispell’s McGarvey Law for its help in this community investment.

LCCF contributed $71,500 to more than two dozen non-profits in 2025. They included Kootenai Winter Sports, Libby Schools, CASA of Lincoln County, Bears N Stuff, Kootenai Heritage Council, Lincoln County Port Authority, Libby Logger Softball, Friends of Scotchman Peaks, Libby Food Pantry, Families in Partnership, Our Kids Christmas Project, Heritage Museum, Lincoln County Shelter Friends, United for Youth, Troy Museum, Troy Public Schools, F&K Giving Tree, Troy Fire Auxiliary, Troy Chamber, Troy Farmers Market, Troy TV District, Bull Lake Fire Department, Troy Food Pantry and Troy Fine Arts.

The foundation is an affiliate of the Montana Community Foundation (MCF) with a dual mission to enhance community vitality and endowed philanthropy. It is committed to using the resources entrusted to us for funding the highest quality projects throughout Lincoln County. 

The MCF invests the savings account funds of the Lincoln County Community Foundation to produce the return that benefits local non-profits. LCCF does not fund political or religious organizations.

The LCCF was established in December 1995 with a $5,000 gift from Plum Creek Timber Company to attract endowment gifts for Lincoln County. This “savings account” will help provide for the future needs of our communities by reinforcing local determination, meeting changing needs, and paying dividends in perpetuity to address community priorities. Annual earnings on the endowed fund support a variety of projects through grant-making. 

Through a series of fundraising events and publicity, the endowment has grown and now allows more than $70,000 annually for grants. Since 2000, Lincoln County Community Foundation has contributed more than $250,000 to over 42 different nonprofits and projects in Lincoln County. 

The current grant cycle to apply for funding from the Lincoln County Community Foundation is July 1 through Aug. 31, 2026. Local 501(c)(3) organizations and government entities are eligible to apply. The application must be postmarked by Aug. 31 to be considered.
