Wild fires kept popping up across Lincoln County, mostly due to lightning.

One was up Pipe Creek Road, southeast of Flat Top Mountain, north of Turner Mountain Ski Area. A Chinook helicopter dropped large bucket loads of water from Rainbow Lake on the fire Wednesday, July 22, 2026, while ground crews worked on the smoldering fire. The 2.5-acre fire was contained that evening.
