STATE LEGION BASEBALL: Lums take two, keep season alive

CLASS AA

LEWISTON — Needing some runs in the top of the seventh inning, the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen went on one to save the season. 

A little later, the Lums scored more than enough to keep things going another day. 

Colton Nordman dropped a two-run single into left field to score the go-ahead runs as the Lumbermen rallied with five runs in the top of the seventh to beat the Prairie Cardinals 7-4 in a loser-out game in the state class AA tournament at Church Field on Friday. 

Jack Pierce and Asa Morton also had two RBIs each against Prairie for Coeur d'Alene, which scored three runs with two outs in the inning. 

Prairie led 4-0 on a two-run single by Grady Stinson. The Cardinals finished 16-15-1. 

Against Nampa, Pierce had four RBIs and Nordman three RBIs for the Lumbermen, who finished with 18 hits against Nampa. 

Coeur d'Alene (14-15) faces the Middleton Vikes in a loser-out game today at 10 a.m. at Harris Field in Lewiston.

NAMPA — Ethan Pecor had four hits and six RBIs for the Mountaineers, who fell to the defending champion Green Sox in a quarterfinal game in the state class A tournament at Rodeo Park. 

Gage Tenney had two RBIs and three runs scored for Northern Lakes (26-7), which faces the Nampa Braves (24-11-1) in a loser-out game today.
