STATE LEGION BASEBALL: Nordman sends Lums past Middleton

LEWISTON — Colton Nordman singled to score Malcolm MacNiven with the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen eliminated the Middleton Vikes 7-6 in the state class AA tournament at Harris Field on Saturday. 

Logan Strimback had a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 6-5, then Jack Pierce tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single to score Tanner Franklin for Coeur d'Alene. 

Coeur d'Alene (15-15) faces the Twin Falls Cowboys (18-16) in a loser-out game today at 1 p.m.

NAMPA — Jake Larcher singled to score Parker Byrd with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Mountaineers past the Braves in a state class A loser-out game at Rodeo Park. 

Cruz Weitz gave Northern Lakes a 9-7 lead in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run single, scoring Ethan Pecor and Larcher. Northern Lakes tied the game at 7-7 on a bases loaded walk to Matthew Junkin. 

"We've had different guys each game that have really stepped up," Northern Lakes coach Bryce Johnson said. "Jake's having a great tournament, so is Ethan (Pecor) and Matthew had a massive double and great at-bat for us." 

Larcher and Junkin finished with three RBIs each for Northern Lakes (27-7), which faces the Lewis-Clark Cubs today in a loser-out game.
