Polson Seniors: Volunteers needed for committees

The president of the Polson Senior Center is seeking volunteers for the Nominating and Audit committees. Only a few meetings in August and September and then you’re done. Talk to Kaye, Randy or Pete if you wish to serve on the temporary committees.

We recently spent $2,000 to update our antiquated grill fire-suppressant system. We are replacing the main water line valves to the center and are considering sanding and finishing the dining room floors. Bathrooms have received a facelift; the contract for snow removal is being negotiated; and the parking lot is due for a sealcoat.

A full report of income and expenditures for our fiscal year will be presented at the annual meeting in September.

Dues for new or renewed members for the 2026-2027 fiscal year are $15 (cheap) and are being accepted starting in August. Dues are not pro-rated. Regular attendees at the various regular activities must be members.

The annual membership meeting will be on the fourth Friday of September, starting at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. The agenda will include the end-of-year financial report, reports from committee meetings, and election of officers as presented by the nomination committee. Additional nominations may be made from the floor.

Can you help us? This is a great opportunity to build your leadership experience. Contact any officer if you wish to be nominated as a member of the board of directors or an officer. We have openings for two board members who would serve three-year terms, as well as all officers, who serve one-year terms.

Our community center provides space for individuals and groups to meet for physical and mental health, social and educational purposes, and may be reserved for special events on weekends and evenings.

We are open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays, or later by appointment.

Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday ($5 donation; $10 without a completed MASTS form). Milk is available with all meals; delivery service is available for those who meet our guidelines.

Main dishes include chicken enchiladas, July 30; tater-tot casserole, July 31; tomato soup and cheesy bread, Aug.3; spaghetti, Aug. 4; orange chicken with stuffing, Aug. 5; Philly steak and cheese sandwich, Aug. 6; and hash-brown bake with sausage links, Aug. 7.

Activities at the Polson Senior Center include bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays and card bingo, 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30 p.m. Monday, no pass, and Thursdays, pass four (new and old players welcome); pool table available 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily; mahjong and bridge, noon Wednesdays (looking for substitutes and regular players); exercise class (low impact and video-assisted), 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Spinning Wheelers meet 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays (call 208-520-1013); and the veterans service officer visits the center from 10 a.m.-noon on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month (walk-ins welcome).
