Sheriff’s office investigates fatal boat crash

A boat crash on the Coeur d’Alene River near Blue Lake on Saturday is currently being investigated by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthew C. Cross, 49, of Coeur d’Alene, suffered fatal injuries after being ejected from the boat with another occupant on Saturday afternoon. Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident around 4:45 p.m.
The other occupant would surface, being assisted by nearby boaters. A dive team later found Cross’ body, who was still missing.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
