Jack Myers

Jack Myers, 90, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Libby Care Center. 

He was born Jan. 19, 1936, in Big Timber to George and Evelyn Myers. He graduated from Sweet Grass County High School in 1954. For a time, he worked on local ranches, then ventured to the oil fields in North Dakota. 

Jack decided to serve his country and enlisted in the Army. While enlisted, he was able to see quite a bit of country, enjoying some time in Germany. He enjoyed and was proud of his service career. 

Returning home, he again worked ranches and decided he needed better employment options. He enrolled in the School of Sciences in Wahpeton, North Dakota, obtaining an associate’s degree in engineering. He began his engineering career with the State of Washington highway department, then transferred to the U.S. Forest Service where he stayed for the remainder of his career.

Jack was the consummate athlete, participating in frozen pond hockey, football, boxing and karate. He was most proud of his rodeo career, where he competed in saddle bronc riding and bull dogging. He then transitioned to parachute jumping, making close to 100 jumps. In later years, he was an avid golfer.

Jack is survived by his wife Betsy; her boys Aaron (Sonja) Clark and Skip (Cherie) Clark; stepdaughter Shawna (Ken) Joslin; daughter Jerra (Wayne) Fjelstad; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Jim Myers (Lois); sister Sandra Holman (Hollis); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Shannon; brother George; sister Lola; and stepdaughter Gwen.
