Law roundup: Why did the man not cross the road?

A man with signs and a megaphone reportedly parked himself in front of a car wash where he "aggressively" hit the crosswalk button at least 10 times to stop traffic. Kalispell Police Department officers helped him settle on which side of the road to be on.

Not long after receiving the crosswalk complaint, an officer cited the man for disorderly conduct. The officer had watched him as he allegedly pressed the button four times but refrained from crossing the road. He claimed he was pressing the button so cross traffic could go, but it seemed more likely he was stopping traffic to force people to look at his signs.

A man called 911 complaining that an ambulance dropped him off at the hospital and he was diagnosed with a bad attitude. He reportedly started cussing and yelling at the dispatcher before hanging up. When an officer contacted him, he questioned the purpose of the call. The officer explained that they were calling him back, which is not unusual. At that, the man allegedly called the officer a curse word and hung up.

A caller reported a dump truck, later specifying it was a 2010 Ford pickup with company logos on the side, was allegedly swerving all over U.S. 93 South and almost hitting several vehicles. Officers pulled over the reckless driver.

Officers received a complaint about speeding dump trucks using Jake brakes — compression release brakes — on Two Mile Drive. An officer planned to do extra patrols in the area and speak with the Public Works Department about speed issues and putting up more road signs.

A resident was suspicious of two teens who allegedly said they were looking for a dog, worried that they were trying to case homes for future burglaries. They only spoke Spanish, which confounded the resident, who said they were blond-haired and blue-eyed and did not look like "typical Latino or Hispanic people." Spain, famously, is a country in Europe.

Someone reportedly spray-painted license plate readers.

A red Dodge Durango with no license plates and a flat tire had allegedly parked in a drive-thru at a sandwich shop for a couple of weeks. A real estate agent called the police on behalf of the property owner when a man was spotted sitting in the vehicle. He was given a one-year ban from the property.
