Rita (Eklund) Ullmann, 85

Rita Rae (Eklund) Ullmann, 85, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away at Walworth County Care Center in Selby, S.D.) surrounded by the love of her family on June 16.

Services will be held at Family Worship Center in Mobridge, S.D. on July 31 at 10:00 CT.

Born on May 30, 1941, in Kalispell, to Dallas F. and Margaret Fay Eklund, Rita spent her early years in Somers before the family moved to Kalispell in 1950.

Rita married Donald Schott in 1958. They settled in South Dakota, raising three children and embracing ranch life. She married Bill Ullmann in 1979 and they had two more children together. They found new adventures in building and living on a sailboat and traveling, eventually settling in Maryland. She moved back to S.D. in 2024 where she was close to family.

Rita is remembered for her resilience, adventurous spirit, community service, and unwavering love for her family.

Rita is survived by her children: Debbie (Jeff Verworn) McAdams of Columbia Falls; Dallas (Liana Durocher) Schott of McLaughlin, S.D.; Joyce (Jim) Mulloy of Timber Lake, S.D.; Holly (Steve) Lewis of Bloxom, Va.; John (Amy) Ullmann of Pierre, S.D.; and Angie (Tim Tucker) Ullmann of St. Augustine, Fla.; and brother Brian Eklund of Kalispell. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to count.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Bill Ullmann; parents Dallas and Fae Eklund; sisters Donna Keller, Marti Elletson, and brother-in-law Les Elletson.
