Twins win one, lose two at West A tourney

The Glacier Twins' West A Legion District tournament in Hamilton last weekend had a bright spot in their 12-5 victory over Kalispell to move on to the consolation bracket. Their other two district games were losses; they lost 10-0 to the Mariners and 14-2 to the Libby Loggers. Bitterroot Red Sox won the championship game to finish on top of the conference and quality for state.
The Twins finish the season last in conference with a 4-20 record in conference and 10-28 overall.
The Twins also nabbed more victories towards the end of their season than in the beginning.
The roster of 16 players is on the younger side, so they will look to continue to improve next year. Ten of the athletes are new to the Twins program and they graduate three seniors.
Mariners 10, Twins 0
Tyler Barton tossed five scoreless innings and allowed two hits for the Mariners as they downed Glacier.
Emerson was the story of the game, hitting three doubles and accounting for seven of the 10 Mission Valley (21-13) runs.
Emerson's first double broke the scoreless tie in the first inning, scoring Cole Wadsworth.
He added an RBI single in the second and brought in one each on his final two doubles in the fourth and fifth innings.
An error allowed Hunter Luedtke to score in the sixth and trigger the run rule victory.
Derek Juntunen and Ryder Conley had the two hits for Glacier (9-27).
Twins 12, Lakers 5
Glacier used a big first inning and took advantage of 14 walks to eliminate the Lakers.
Travis Banks drew a bases-loaded walk before Tayvion Robinson lined a two-run single to center field, putting the Twins ahead 3-0 in the opening inning. Tristan Libby added an RBI single in the second, scoring Mason Muller.
Kalispell (11-27) chipped away in the middle innings and finished with seven hits but couldn’t string together enough offense to overcome the deficit. Blake Paulsen led the Lakers, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs, while Landen Jacobson added two hits.
Robinson finished 2 for 4 with three RBIs for Glacier (10-27), while Banks drew three walks. Muller added two stolen bases.
Trenton DeRosa earned the win, allowing five runs, two earned, over six innings while striking out eight.
