CDA Elks Lodge golf tourney set for Aug. 7

The Coeur d'Alene Elks Lodge No. 1254 is central to the organization's mission and activities. It is essentially a second home to some of its members.
But the structure at 1170 W. Prairie Ave., which has served as a base of operations since the 1990s, is getting on in age. The kitchen, restrooms and other areas need updates and remodeling.
"We have a great lodge out there, but it's not in great shape," said Bill White, Elks Lodge trustee. "It needs some work."
A day on the greens will help cover the costs.
The second Coeur d'Alene Elks Lodge No. 1254 golf tournament is scheduled Aug. 7 at The Links Golf Club in Post Falls. The four-person scramble is $500 a team, and includes golf, cart, lunch and prizes.
White said they had about 15 teams last year and are hoping to see 20 this year, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
It is not necessary to be an Elks member to play in the tournament.
White said the Elks often donate to organizations like the 3Cs, Christmas for All and first responders. Improving the lodge will help the Elks do even more for the community.
"We're always doing something," he said.
