A Benewah County man was arrested late Tuesday on multiple firearms charges following a standoff.

According to a press release, the Benewah County Sheriff's Office and Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police executed a search warrant and arrest warrant at a residence in the Cherry Creek area.

The operation involved an adult male who was wanted on a felony warrant, the release said.
Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the subject refused to come to the door with deputies' commands and was barricaded inside the residence.

"Due to the elevated risk to deputies, the public, and the subject, the BCSO requested assistance from the Kootenai County SWAT Team," the release said.
Before the SWAT team’s arrival, the subject exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident, the release said.
The subject was arrested on 38 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of careless discharge of a firearm. During the execution of the search warrant, evidence related to the investigation was collected.

An investigation continues.
