NHHS earns statewide award for rural hospitals

NEWPORT — Newport Hospital and Health Services has been recognized with silver-level recognition in the Washington State Hospital Association's 2026 Critical Access Hospital Achievement of Excellence program, honoring rural hospitals for their commitment to quality improvement and outstanding patient care.

The award was presented during the 2026 WSHA Rural Hospital Leadership Conference, held June 28 through July 1 in Chelan. The recognition is based on the hospital's participation in the 2025 Medicaid Quality Incentive Program.

Each year, WSHA recognizes rural hospitals that demonstrate a strong commitment to measuring and improving quality across a range of patient care initiatives. Participating hospitals voluntarily submit performance data on quality measures that include sepsis management, workplace safety, diagnostic accuracy and efforts to reduce health disparities. 

"This recognition reflects the dedication of every member of our team to providing safe, high-quality care for our patients and community," said NHHS CEO Kim Manus. "We are proud to be recognized by the Washington State Hospital Association for our commitment to continually improving the care we provide close to home."

Established in 1921, Newport Hospital and Health Services is owned and operated by Pend Oreille County Public Hospital District.
