Rose M. Gonzalez

Rose M. Gonzalez, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family, on July 11, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, and countless cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A private Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on July 16, 2026, followed by interment at Guarding Angels Cemetery in Moses Lake, Washington.

With profound sadness, but hearts filled with gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we celebrate the life of Rose M. Gonzalez, who entered into the loving arms of our Lord at the age of 91.

Rose was born on Oct. 7, 1934, in Worland, Wyoming, to Remigio Medrano and Refugia Beltran Medrano. She was one of 13 children. During her childhood, the Medrano family moved to Toppenish, Washington and eventually settled in Moses Lake, where Rose would build the beautiful life and family for which she would always be remembered.

A devoted Catholic, Rose’s faith guided her throughout her life and was the foundation of the love, strength and compassion she shared with everyone around her. Her faith carried her through life’s joys and hardships, and she lived each day with grace, humility, and a servant’s heart.

On June 14, 1963, she married the love of her life, Hector Ramon Gonzalez. Together they built a beautiful marriage founded on faith, devotion, and unconditional love while raising three children. Rose adored Hector with all her heart. She loved dancing with him, preparing his favorite meals, hemming his clothing and faithfully standing beside him through every blessing and every hardship. Their marriage was a beautiful example of enduring love, loyalty, and partnership.

Nothing brought Rose greater happiness than her family. She was the proud mother of three children, the cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren, and the loving great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren. She adored every one of them and found immense joy in helping raise many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcomed, safe, and deeply loved.

Rose was the heart of her home and an extraordinary homemaker. She loved creating beautiful floral arrangements, caring for her home and preparing meals that brought generations together around her table. Whether it was a holiday celebration or an ordinary afternoon, she had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved.

To her family, Rose’s kitchen was the heart of the home. Her homemade flour tortillas became legendary, and generations looked forward to her beans and rice, carne con chile, fresh molcajete salsas, chile rellenos and her famous frosted Christmas cookies made completely from scratch. She also had an incredible gift for opening the refrigerator and creating the most delicious salads from whatever ingredients she had on hand. She proved time and time again that the greatest ingredient she ever cooked with was love.

Rose was known not only for her beauty but for the beauty of her heart. She possessed a quiet strength, endless compassion, and a nurturing spirit that made everyone feel cared for. She was the kind of mother who always knew exactly what to say or do to make everything better. Whether someone was sick, discouraged, or simply needed a comforting embrace, Rose was there with unconditional love, gentle wisdom, and a warm meal waiting on the stove.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hector Ramon Gonzalez; her parents Remigio and Refugia Medrano; and her siblings Emilio Medrano, Robert Medrano, Nora Alamos, Jenny Harless, Marty Guerrero, Junior Medrano, Lupe Medrano, Vicki Langlot, Christina Mitchell and Ralph Medrano.

Rose is lovingly survived by her three children Gregory R. Gonzalez, Dorothy (Juventino Jr.) Alvarado, and Patricia (Francisco) Martinez; her seven grandchildren Isavel, Tyson, Tiffany, Javier, Brianna, Jacquelynn, and Gabriel; her seven great-grandchildren, Aubree, Emah, Masen, Hazell, Santiago, Raelyn and Amelia; and her sisters Gloria Medrano Guzman and Ruth Arreola; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we find peace in knowing that Rose is now reunited with her beloved Hector. Her love will continue to live on in every homemade tortilla, every Christmas cookie baked from scratch, every flower lovingly arranged, every family meal shared around the table, and every act of kindness inspired by the remarkable woman she was.

She was, and always will be, the heart of our family.

Heavenly Father, we entrust our beloved mother to Your care, grateful for the love she gave us and the faith she lived by. Welcome her into Your heavenly kingdom, where she may find eternal peace and joy in Your presence. Comfort us in our grief, Lord, and give us strength to carry on her legacy of love and devotion. May we feel her guiding presence in our lives until we are reunited in Your eternal embrace. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A Celebration of Life honoring Rose will be announced at a later date, where family and friends will be invited to gather in remembrance, share cherished memories, and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
