WHITEFISH — There was no shortage of Bonners Ferry representation at the Montana Superdraft tournament last weekend.
Ten players from Bonners made the trip out to compete in the unique tournament hosted by Blades Athletic Performance Academy. Before arriving at Smith Fields in Whitefish, players have no idea which teams they'll be playing for and are randomly assigned a new team for the weekend. The Bonners Ferry players were divided amongst six of the tournament's teams as follows — Dillon Brimhall joined the 10U Dodgers, Mason Kunsky played for the 12U Mariners, Brooks Reichart and Isaac Dickson played for the 12U Marlins, Slider Reichart and Colton Larsson competed for the 15U Red Sox, Gordon Woelfle joined the 15U Padres and Will Mackey, Baylor Sheets and Landen Dickson played for the 15U Marlins.
Kunsky's 12U Mariners were the most successful team to feature a Bonners Ferry player, taking home the age group title. However, he wasn't the only Badger to find success in Whitefish.
Brimhall's 10U Dodgers won second place in their age group's tournament, while Slider Reichart and Larson's 15U Red Sox also earned silver in their division.
Looking for revenge after falling in the finals last year, Woelfle's 15U Padres, who were coached by Dustin Woelfle, fell in the semi-final game. Gordon Woelfle pulled double duty over the weekend, umpiring at the tournament alongside Alan and Tyson Dickson.
All of the Bonners Ferry players who played this weekend are eligible to play at Superdraft next year, as it is for 9–15-year-olds (10U, 12U and 15u divisions).
