Jackson returns home to compete in Ironman 70.3 Coeur d'Alene

Hailey Jackson, a 2014 graduate of Lake City High School, recently returned to the area to compete in June's Ironman 70.3 Coeur d'Alene.

Jackson, a three-time All-Inland Empire League selection in softball, helped the Timberwolves win state 5A titles in 2011 and 2013, represented the United States Air Force Cycling Team, where she is currently serves as a Captain and Attorney for the Air Force stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.

"Representing the United States Air Force Cycling Team this past year has been one of the greatest honors of my life," Jackson said. "My work takes me around the world in support of military justice. Through the cycling team, I've also had the privilege of representing the Air Force in races across the country."

Jackson competes for the Northwestern Region team.

"We're required to do five local races a year, maintain a good standing for the Air Force Fitness test every year, and promote the AFCT (Air
Force Cycling Team) mission," Jackson said. 

Jackson completed the Coeur d'Alene race in 7 hours, 29 minutes and 6 seconds.

"Racing the Coeur d'Alene Ironman 70.3 was especially meaningful," Jackson said. "Returning to my hometown reminded me where I come from and how those roots continue to shape who I am. It was a full-circle moment to wear the Air Force jersey in the community that raised me. I hope the next generation in Coeur d'Alene sees that choosing to serve your country can open doors you never imagined. Service has challenged me, shaped me and given me opportunities far beyond what I thought was possible — and for that, I'll always be grateful."
