A missing 84-year-old Pinehurst man was found dead Thursday, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said.

Russell D. Lebourdais was last seen July 23 in Pinehurst. A missing person’s report was filed with the Pinehurst Police Department on July 28. On July 29, at about 8 p.m., Kootenai County Backcountry deputies were dispatched to the Latour Creek area, near Baldy Creek, after the Lebourdais vehicle was located on a roadway in the area, a press release said.

Deputies responded and conducted an initial investigation. Based on findings from the initial investigation, the Kootenai County Volunteer Search and Rescue unit and the Idaho Disaster Dogs were subsequently deployed and began operations Thursday morning.

During the course of the search, Lebourdais was located deceased on an old overgrown roadway by ground search teams, the release said.

There is no evidence indicating foul play.

"The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office offers its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Lebourdais," the release said.
