SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint man was arrested early Tuesday morning on allegations of sexual abuse of a minor and may be required to register as a sex offender if found guilty of the charges.
Jordan Connor Goughnour, 30, was arrested on a warrant for felony counts of rape and sexual battery of a child. He is also accused of dispensing an alcoholic beverage to a minor, a misdemeanor.
Goughnour could face up to life in prison for the charges, along with having to register as a sex offender, if he’s found guilty of the crimes.
He is currently being held at the Bonner County Jail and will be expected to appear in court Aug. 5 for a preliminary hearing. At that time, the state will attempt to prove to the court that there is probable cause to move the case forward.
Documents for the file are sealed due to the sensitive nature of the case but allege that Goughnour provided alcohol to a 17-year-old before the sexual allegations took place.
Anyone who suspects sexual abuse should call the 24/7 Bonner County Sexual Abuse hotline at 208-265-3586.
