Iron Cowgirl Challenge — 6 p.m. July 31 at the Lake County Fairgrounds; join the Friends of the Lake County Fairgrounds for rope, run and goat tie all done on one horse. 

Lake County Fair Rodeo — Aug. 1-2 at the Lake County Fairgrounds; the rodeo includes an honor guard presentation at 5:45, a rodeo performance at 6 p.m. on Saturday and a 3 p.m. performance on Sunday. 

Lake County Fair — July 25-Aug. 1 at the Lake County Fairgrounds; the event features 4-H and FFA youth projects, commercial booths and livestock exhibits. 

First Saturday Community Artisan Event – 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 1 at Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana south of Ronan; enjoy a day of art and entertainment with local authors Bonnie Jo Hunt and Lorrie Grosfield, photographer Dee Dee Barbour, artisan Jessika Baldertson, glass artist Judy Wright and jeweler Alia Bakke, and live music with Kate Mostad from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Visit www.ninepipesmuseum.org.

Pioneer Days — July 31-Aug. 2 in Ronan; this event includes a car show, co-ed softball, volleyball and the big parade. 

Port Polson Players: America on the Move – 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Theatre on the Lake in Polson; a glittering cast highlights this star-spangled collection of individuals and events in American history and the music that accompanied them. The concert is the first of four Sunday matinees, celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday. Admission is free; for more information, call 406-883-9212.

Flathead Lakers Summer Soiree – 5-8 p.m. Aug. 6 at Flathead Forevers, 28275 Skipping Rock Lane in Big Arm; an evening of music by the John Floridis Trio, food and lakefront are part of this summer celebration that helps support clean water and healthy ecosystems in the Flathead watershed. Flathead Lake Biological Station open house — 11 a.m. Aug. 7 at the Flathead Bio Station; join the bio station for the last open house with director Jim Elser. This is a family-friendly event that highlights the research, monitoring and education programs at the bio station.

Flathead Waters Cleanup – 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 8 on local streams, ponds, wetlands, rivers and lakes; this Flathead Basin-wide event brings together agencies, organizations and community members in an all-day volunteer effort to clean up trash and celebrate the region’s waterways. Free summer concert — 6 p.m. Aug. 8 at Good Old Days Park Amphitheater; join the show to see Good Company with Friends and The Late Bloomers performances. The event includes a lemonade stand and bounce houses. 

Farmers Markets — Polson: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Fridays through the second Friday in October on Third Ave.; the market has over 50 vendors selling locally grown, crafted and baked goods. Ronan: 4-7 p.m. Thursdays next to the visitors center. Mission Falls Market in St. Ignatius: 4:30-7 p.m. Fridays at Good Old Days Park Pavilion.
