Norman Ronald Brunken passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

He was born in Leduc, Alberta, and grew up on his family’s dairy farm. Norm’s true passion was music, so he set off to attend music school at the University of Montana in Missoula.

Norm taught band for 40 years. He also loved being a musician, playing in several local groups throughout his life.  He enjoyed working in his yard and keeping a wonderful garden. His greatest joy, though, was his family, particularly his grandsons!

Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Tricia; his daughter, Leisa; his parents, Rheinhard and Olga; his sister, Esther; his brother-in-law, Mike; and his brother, Roderick. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie (husband Neil); grandsons Tyler and Dylan; his sister-in-law, Wilma; his nephews, Barry and Blaine; and his nieces, Gayla, Karen and Jackie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Plymouth Congregational Church, 400 S. Oakes St. in Helena, on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Helena State Capital Band (237 Greenwood Dr, Helena, MT 59601).
