St. Ignatius Seniors: Eat light to beat the heat
Theresa Yares | Lake County Leader | UPDATED 1 hour, 51 minutes AGO
August is right around the corner. To beat the heat and stay healthy, focus on hydration, light protein and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Keep fluid intake up by including high-water produce such as cucumbers, watermelon, peaches, cantaloupe, tomatoes and berries.
Also try sparkling water or herbal ice teas in addition to water. Try lighter protein options, such as fish, eggs, poultry, cold chicken or tuna salads, and Greek yogurt or cottage cheese parfaits.
Eat five to six smaller meals spread throughout the day to avoid feeling too full and avoid the “energy slump.”
The next bingo game is 2 p.m. Aug. 15.
