Mission Valley Mariners bow out of State A

DILLON — Quinn Elliot had a day for the Havre North Stars.
Elliot hit a seventh inning grand slam and drove in six runs as the North Stars eliminated Mission Valley from the State A Legion tournament 13-7 Thursday morning.
Hunter Luedtke scored three times for the Mariners, while also driving in a run on a 1-for-4 performance.
In the other loser’s bracket matchup, Bitterroot rebounded to defeat Great Falls 16-2.
In the winner’s games, Miles City and Glendive earned spots in Friday’s winners semifinal.
North Stars 13, Mariners 7
Both teams came out firing as Kody Standiford gave Havre a 2-0 lead with a single.
Mission Valley (24-17) plated took a 3-2 lead in the bottom half of the first thanks to singles from Luedtke and Noah Agliano. The Mariners got two runs on an error to take a 6-5 lead in the fifth.
Two bases loaded walks and a hit batter pushed Havre (35-18) back ahead in the sixth. Then in the seventh Elliot went yard for some insurance. He also went 4 1-3 innings on the bump for Havre, fanning eight.
Jake Helser tossed five innings for the Mariners, striking out four.

Boedy Tadvick hit a solo home run and Jude Widmer tripled as the Red Sox downed Great Falls in five innings.
Tadvick hit his big fly in the first inning. Widmer’s second inning triple made it 4-0.
The Red Sox (39-3) added nine runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double from Cash Lawrence.
Great Falls (19-20) scored both of its runs on a fifth inning error.
Mavericks 3, Bandits 1
Bridger Muri hit a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning as Miles City knocked off Belgrade in a winner’s bracket matchup.
Blue Devils 9, Cubs 2
Gradin Sukut tripled and a strong pitching performance from Quinn Hoffer led Glendive.
Sukut’s triple scored a pair and sparked a five-run fifth inning as the Blue Devils went up 7-0.
