Robbins, a junior, won the state 5A girls shot put championship with a throw of 43 feet, 1 ½ inches at Mountain View High in Meridian on May 15, winning the event by nearly 5 feet. “Jackie persevered through an injury at the beginning of the season through therapy and consistent hard work to continue to elevate her throws,” Lakeland throws coach Jesse Briles said. “Through heavy repetitions in both events and constant attention to details in her footwork, she was able to consistently set higher and her personal bests, culminating in a shot put state championship and a new discus school record.”
