Carroll Lee Carey, 90

Carroll Lee Carey (Critchfield), who lived in Hayden, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home May 18, 2026. Carroll was born June 17, 1935, in Compton, Calif., to Glenn and Ella Critchfield. 

Her family moved to Oakley, Idaho, when she was young and stayed there until her teen years. They then moved back to California, where she graduated from Inglewood High School and met Bruce Alan Carey. They were married and had two children, Lisa and Bruce Carey Jr. They later divorced and she met Jean Claude Flabel in 1982. They moved to Coeur d’Alene and raised Jean’s two children, Steven and Alisa Flabel. 

Carroll was a caring, loving and giving person to those she met. She always loved to listen to their stories. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to all of her family members. She was a vital part of building Engineering Contract Services with her husband, Jean Claude.

She is survived by her husband, Jean Claude Flabel, daughter and son, Lisa Richards Evans and Bruce Carey Jr., daughter-in-law Laura Carey, Steven Flabel, daughter-in-law Jill Flabel, Alisa Flabel, grandchildren, Nicolette and Eric Morda, Jared and Megan Richards, Keenan Evans, Nicole Sullivan, Katie and Jon Spiker and Kayla and Daniel Hall, Cameron and Ethan Flabel, Bryan Lewis, Kirsten Inghilterra, great-grandchildren, Ella and Olivia Richards, Isla and Vinn Morda, Ava Spiker, Norah Hall, Hayden Cuellar.
