The Flathead National Forest, Tally Lake Ranger District announces the Rad Reid Blowdown Salvage Project, which includes approximately 512 acres of active management, including commercial harvest and post-harvest fuel treatments to address stands of trees damaged by December windstorms.

The windstorms knocked down thousands of trees across the Flathead Valley.

This blowdown is one of the largest.

This project is expected to be categorically excluded from documentation in an Environmental Assessment or Environmental Impact Statement. The project is anticipated to be authorized under Section 605 of the Healthy Forest Restoration Act. The project will use the emergency authorities authorized by the Secretary of Agriculture under Section 40807 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
