Linda Lee Thompson, 85
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 week, 4 days AGO
Linda Lee Thompson went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2026. She is survived by her children, Jerry Jr. (Colleen) Thompson, Mary (Larry) Soehren; her grandchildren, Madison and Chase (Ally) Soehren; and her brother-in-law, Mike McMillan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; sister Nancy; and mother.
Linda was born to Maude (Zimmer) Cohen on Jan. 21, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., where she attended Webster High School.
Linda met her future husband, Jerry, on a blind date. After a short courtship, they were married Nov. 23, 1957. Jerry Jr. was born in 1958, and Mary was born in 1961.
In 1974, the family moved to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Jerry and Linda enjoyed trips to Canada, rides in the mountains, visits to Jerry and Colleen’s log home at Priest Lake and making the best of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
Linda had various jobs in her life. She worked at Kootenai Memorial Hospital as a Unit Secretary, J.C. Penney’s and caring for neighbors’ children. Her favorite time was spent with her grandchildren while her daughter and son-in-law traveled for work.
Linda loved her home nestled below Canfield Mountain, as well as being surrounded by wildlife on the property. She was able to live there until nearly the end of her life.
The family would like to thank Ironwood Care Center for the wonderful care they provided to Mom in her final months. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with Linda’s arrangements. Please visit Linda’s online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
