Officer shooting at FK&L site on reservoir

A person was shot and killed by a Flathead County Sheriff Deputy who was responding to a report of an assault with a weapon incident near the Emery Bay campground the evening of May 29.

The incident happened at what is locally known as the FK&L site, which is west of the actual campground.

“During the incident, an officer-involved shooting occurred. No deputies were injured during the event. The suspect is deceased. In accordance with standard protocol, the Kalispell Police Department will be conducting an independent investigation into the incident,” the Sheriff’s department said in a release.

The name of the person who was shot was not immediately released.
