Memorial Day ceremonies in Mineral County

Every Memorial Day is honored in St. Regis with a three-part ceremony led by the members of American Legion Ray Welch Post 13. Lilac wreaths were placed at the flagpole at Mullan Square and the local cemetery; a wreath was also cast into the Saint Regis River. A three-round salute was fired and a prayer was spoken at each location. (Mineral Independent/Amy Quinlivan)

Their Honor Guard presented the colors, and Commander Joe Griffith spoke to those on each side of the bridge of the ultimate sacrifices men and women continue to make for their country which is what the day represents.
