Aspen Orr's reputation is growing rapidly across the state of Montana.

Orr, a freshman, earned All-Conference basketball honors while leading the Lady Trojans with 16 points per game and in four other major statistical categories.

For those who weren't paying attention, she garnered some more last weekend in Missoula when she won the Montana High School Association Class B triple jump championship at Big Sky High School’s MCPS Stadium.

Orr won the event with a personal-best mark, and new school record, of 37 feet, 6 inches, finishing more than 18 inches ahead of runner-up Avery Gerdes of Huntley Project, who jumped 35-11.5. Orr also competed in the girls long jump, placing 16th with a mark of 15-7.75.

Orr's leap was not only good enough to win Class B, but it was the top jump of all Montana girls athletes in all classes last weekend. Orr's win earned her All-State status, too.

Orr's 37-6 was three inches better than AA champ Gabby Alec's 37-3. Alec is a junior at Big Sky.

Orr does have a few distances she can set her sights on in the next three years. Missoula Sentinel’s Ava Kellenberg owns the overall state record with a 40-8.25 in 2024 while Whitehall’s Kellee Glaus set the Class B mark in 2010 with a leap of 39 feet, 2 inches.

Troy’s boys were represented by junior Michael Gillespie in the Class B triple jump. Gillespie placed 20th with a jump of 37-10.25.

Senior Jaylee Meyers competed in the girls 1,600 meters for the Lady Trojans, finishing 22nd in 6 minutes, 14.42 seconds.

Freshman Toryn Witmer also qualified for Troy in the girls high jump, but did not record a height in the event.

Gillespie, Meyers and Witmer each were recognized as All Conference performers.
