SANDPOINT — A new chapter is starting for Amanda Thome and Cornerstone Physical Therapy and Aquatics as the Sandpoint location switches to Granite Point Physical Therapy and Aquatics.

Thome has been operating the business for the last seven years and decided to bring the Sandpoint location in line with the company’s Athol location, which has held the Granite Point moniker since 2023. Despite the name change, Thome said the business’s services, which have expanded to include concussion care, Parkinson's specific physical therapy and more, won’t be changing.

“With the region saturated in healthcare businesses using the name Cornerstone and, in an effort, to solidify the two clinics under one brand, it felt like the right move at the right time,” Thome said in a press release. “The clinics in both Athol and Sandpoint look forward to serving their wonderful communities for many years to come.”

In order to support the growing business, Thome brought on 2016 Sandpoint High School graduate Alexis Creighton as a new co-owner at the beginning of this year. Creighton earned her doctorate in Physical Therapy from George Fox University in Oregon before returning home to work for Thome’s business in 2023.

“Alexis was an easy choice as a business partner, as she is hardworking, dedicated, skilled and compassionate, with the added bonus of having Sandpoint roots,” Thome said in the press release.

Thome said the two clinics have operated under one patient-focused mission, and the name change reflects that.

“It was a decision not taken lightly, but one that the team is happy to announce to the community,” Thome said of the name change.

The renamed Granite Point Physical Therapy and Aquatics can be found at 1301 Division Ave. in Sandpoint. While the Athol clinic can be found at 6101 ID-54, Unit J, in the northernmost city of Kootenai County.
